Shock death for EastEnders tonight as Mel and Ray’s showdown finally comes to an end

Jade Hayden

It’s all over.

Well, hopefully.

Fans, friends, and folk who don’t even watch the bloody show were left reeling tonight as an intense showdown left a key player within Albert Square dead.

Luckily for us all, that key player wasn’t somebody anyone particularly liked – rather, it was Ray Kelly, and to be honest he definitely had it coming.

Ray and Mel have been engaging in the longest, most unnecessary, drawn out to bits, fight since their ‘wedding day’ which saw Ray attempt to strangle his wife-to-be with her own veil.

Mel, however, decided she’d play dead and showed up to the wedding anyway, exposing Ray for marrying multiple women and having him arrested.

This is EastEnders though, so it obviously all didn’t end there. The pair ended up chasing each other around a large wooded area after Ray kidnapped Mel’s son, Hunter.

During tonight’s instalment of the soap, Mel managed to track the pair down and rescue Hunter, while also running Ray over simultaneously.

Ray wasn’t quite dead yet though so Hunter, who had previously idolised Ray before he discovered he was a literal murderer, shot him dead.

A solid enough result for all involved… Until you consider that Mel and Hunter now have a dead body to take care of.

And a story to concoct.

G’luck to them.
