This is how often you should replace your hairbrush…

HerFamily

Be honest, how often do you replace your hairbrush? I’m not going to lie, I don’t replace mine that often… but I will now.

That’s because Marc Anthony, who is the hairstylist and founder of Marc Anthony True Professional Haircare, told Women’s Health Magazine that the general rule is every six months to a year.

Of course it depends on the quality of brush, how often you use it and how many products you use but you should still replace it regularly.

As well as buying a new one every so often, cleaning your hairbrush or comb is also important as they can be a breeding ground for dust, bacteria and yeast – all of which can cause irritation to the scalp and damage to your locks.

It seems that the way to keep your brush in good working order is to remove any hair from it after each use and clean it once a week (we’re talking shampoo on a toothbrush with warm water and plenty of rinsing).

Well, that’s that then, we’re off to Boots to buy a new hairbrush! (And a spare toothbrush for cleaning it.)
