Ben Affleck Describes Jennifer Garner As A ‘Superhero Mum’

Sharyn Hayden

By now, you’ve probably watched the YouTube clip of Jennifer Garner doing the most hilarious recital of parenting book fave, Go The F*ck To Sleep.

You may also be conscious of hearing her name mentioned a lot lately when it comes to a celebrity mum sharing fun and relatable parenting stories, and for just being generally hysterical.

In short, Jennifer’s PR is really good right now.

Alas, ex-husband Ben Affleck’s PR is currently the opposite of good.

While Superman V Batman rakes it in, in monetary terms, at the box office, the reviews have been pretty poor so far.

Added to that Ben’s is personal reputation which is still in the doldrums from his marriage break-up last year to one of the most likeable and loved actresses of our time.

Jennifer was keen to put those ‘nanny affair’ rumours to bed in an interview with Vanity Fair last month and said that the decision to split came about before any dalliance Affleck had with the nanny.

“She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes.”

She says that the pair are currently doing their best to ensure that their three children, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4 are happy and secure in the aftermath of last year’s sudden separation.

And now La Affleck speaks up. Talking to the This Morning show on CBS, he had nothing but praise for his ex-wife and mother of his kids.

“Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother and I’m really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that’s what we do.”

Call me cynical (I’m feeling a little bit cynical today), but A) Has he just figured out what the rest of us knew all along? B) Is he a little bit jealous of all the positive press she’s getting and is chiming in for a slice of that? C) Doesn’t he know we totally love her without his contribution to that love?

Stop being so ‘complicated’, Ben. We’re over it.
