I hated the name my wife gave our daughter so I changed it behind her back

Kat O'Connor

A father has changed his baby’s name behind his wife’s back because he thought it was “ridiculous”.

The dad explained that they were constantly arguing about what they would call their child.

He said he was traditional and opted for classic names, but his wife preferred unique names. The dad said some of her ideas included names like Buza, Yabba, and Hoohee.

He confessed that these names were ridiculous and would prevent their daughter from landing a “respectable job”.

“By the way, we’re both Caucasian so these aren’t cultural names or anything.”

The dad suggested traditional names like Sophia, Ella, and Amelia, but his wife said they were “too common”.

After their daughter was born, his wife was adamant they call her Buza, but the father refused.

“I told her no one will take her seriously with a name like that and that she was just pursuing the novelty of a unique name without thinking about what actually works for her.

When the dad realised that his wife wasn’t going to change her mind about the name, he took matters into his own hands.

His wife was completely set on calling her Buza.

“There was no way I could convince her otherwise.

“I went by myself to register our daughter’s name because I was worried my wife would go and do it first.”

The dad said he chose a “pretty name” that wasn’t “too old-fashioned”.

He thought his wife would be happy, but she was furious.

She said he was so wrong to go behind her back and change their child’s moniker legally.

However, the dad feels like he did the right thing because the moniker his wife picked would have “ruined” their daughter’s life.

Who do you think is right?
