One of the men in this wedding photo is making a HUGE mistake.

As a bridezilla-in-the-making, I have some very strong feelings about the picture I’m about to show you.

At first glance the snap, posted anonymously on Reddit, looks like a happy scene; a man gets down on one knee in front of his beloved; an engagement ring is proffered…

She is moved to tears and he’s beaming with happiness. Everybody’s delighted altogether. Except, of course, for the woman sitting in the background (literally and figuratively) – the bride. And her expression says it all…

Right up there with your bridesmaid announcing her pregnancy on the morning of your wedding (this actually happened to someone I know) getting engaged on somebody else’s Big Day is a major faux-pas.

Sure, the newlyweds will cheer and clap and congratulate you along with everyone else. What fun! But silently, deeply… somewhere behind those smiles, they will be experiencing something I like to call #StrangleFeelings.

The Internet reacted to the scene, correctly captioned ‘Any Girl’s Wedding Nightmare’ with a satisfying level of horror:

“This is up there with my uncle giving my cousins a puppy at my birthday party.” said GreyPhoenix15.

It also unleashed some truly blood-boiling stories from other newlyweds, like HappinesstoYou, who revealed:

“My sister in law suggested that she renew her marriage vows at my wedding. I said no.”

And a little revenge advice…

“Just announce your pregnancy at their wedding. Fire with fire, yo.”

Personally I think the last one is something that must happen for the balance of good and evil to be restored in the world in general. Is it too much to ask that your friends celebrate your romance for ONE DAY without hijacking the spotlight for themselves?

In any case proposing at somebody else’s wedding is *rumoured to be terribly bad luck.

*I’ve never actually heard this rumour but I’m genuinely counting on you to pass it on.
