Ever since going on a bit of Marie Kondo like de-cluttering session a while back, I have tried to install a little buy less, make more approach to a lot of things in our house.
Some of it is working great (I now made better thin crust pizzas than Milano’s if anyone cares to know!), some of it a little less so (I tried making a sun dress for my little girl of out this amazingly cute fabric piece I had found on Etsy, but it turns out I am not very good at sewing. At all.)
But when I came across these incredibly cool space rocket toys, however, I just knew I had to try making them with the kids – especially since we go through a lot of kitchen roll in our house, and the recycling bin is always filled to the brim with empty paper rolls.
Are you ready to do some seriously cute UPcycling?
You will need:
Empty toilet- and kitchen roll tubes
Craft paper
Glue
Paint/colouring pencils
Scissors
And a great big dose of imagination
How to:
1. Start by making the legs on cardboard, they are 3x 1/4 circle. Using an exacto make slits on the tubes where the legs will fit.
2. Glue them in place and then spray paint the whole thing.
3. Make small cones in craft paper and glue to the top of the rocket.
4. Draw designs on white paper using crayons and cut them out and glue to the rockets.
5. Houston… we don’t have any problems!
