Kendra Wilkinson Baskett is super-honest with her 7-year-old about sex

When it comes to teaching kids about the birds and the bees, I think most parents like to think we don’t have to tackle this conversation for years yet.

I know I sure do. And look; I know the day will come when it needs to be had, but at seven, my little girl still feels a little too young and childlike for this topic to surface.

This, however, is not the case for reality star Kendra Wilkinson Baskett, who recently opened up about how she tackles sex ed with 7-year-old son Hank IV, who she says already knows about the birds and the bees.

In fairness, Hugh Hefner’s ex-girlfriend was never known for being shy about anything, and obviously applies the same honest, no-nonsense approach to her parenting tactics.

Today, Kendra is, of course, a mum of two (-year-old Hank IV and 2-year-old Alija) and she recently sat down with E!News and shared how she and her husband approach a variety of topics with their kids. As for sex, the 31-year-old explained:

“It starts now with teaching them who I am,” the Girls Next Door alumn explains. “They’ve been up to the Playboy Mansion. I have nothing to hide. And if you don’t have shame or regret…”

Up front is the way to go, according to the mum-of-two.

“I even tell little Hank sometimes, ‘Go to bed. Mom and pop are going to have sex,'” she explained. “‘We got to have some sex Hank, okay? Go to your room. Play your video games.'” Bold, Mama! But not

And maybe she in on to something, in fairness. While the thought of discussing sex like this with our children is enough to make any of us blush, maybe her honesty is merely setting the foundation for her son to understand sex as something parents in a happy, stable relationship do to feel closer to one another?

Many will agree that maybe seven is a bit young to deal with the birds and the bees, but when curiosity arises, maybe it’s better to be as up front about it as Kendra?
