Woman mom-shamed after lying her baby on airport floor speaks out

Pity people didn't know the full story...

A woman who was mom-shamed after a photo of her looking at her phone while her baby lay on an airport floor has spoken out.

The photo depicts mom, Molly Lensing, using her phone while her baby daughter lies on a towel by her feet.

The image was originally uploaded by Facebook user Christian Naniot with the caption:

“Albert Einstein said, “I fear the day that technology will take on our humanity… the world will be populated by a generation of idiots.””

Charming.

The photo was posted sometime last year and at the time, it garnered over 2,000 comments from people suggesting that Lensing did not deserve to have children.

According to Romper, one user even said that the young mom should be sterilised.

12 months on and Lensing herself has responded to the uproar about the photo.

Speaking to TODAY Parents, she said that she and her daughter, Anastasia, has been stuck in the airport for 20 hours due to a technical fault.

Although Lensing shouldn’t have to explain herself to anyone given the situation she was in, she did express how negatively the sharing of the image affected her.

“Anastasia had been held or in her carrier for many hours. My arms were tired. She needed to stretch. And I had to communicate with all the family members wondering where the heck we were.

“I absolutely feel as though my privacy was violated. I had recently started working on a labour floor, and I was terrified of my co-workers or boss seeing the photo and comments and believing that I should no longer work with infants. Thankfully, this never happened.”

Anastasia was just two-months-old when the photo was taken.

She is now a happy one-year-old and mum Molly, thankfully, knows that she is a good parent.

… No matter what some strangers on the internet say.

“I am powerless compared to the internet, and I know that I am the best momma to my girls and I know that I cherish them and am raising them the best I can.”
