Cleaning your child’s toys can feel like just another thing on a never-ending list

Considering you already have to pick up the peas they decided to throw around the shop at dinner time, not to mention whatever they smeared over their face.

Oh, and the clothes that are probably drenched in something you can’t remember but it’s suspiciously sticky.

Can’t forget whatever else that ended up in their hair and…well…I digress.

Back to the toys, when there’s already so much to do the idea of wiping down each toy individually can feel like a pain.

@mama_mila_ Share your best toy cleaning hacks below 🧸 here’s a top request! Make cleaning your kids toys easy using items from @Bunnings 🧸 1. Place small toys, like legos, in a premium laundry wash bag + place them into a cold wash to clean them! I used the Sabco premium laundry wash bag which is double lined, so toys can’t fall out but still come out sparkling clean from the wash 2. You can also place plush toys in a premium wash bag and place it into a gentle wash cycle. Add 1/2 cup Glitz Bi-Carb soda to the drum to help soften and deodorise the plushes too 3. You guys know how much I love my Mistral garment steamer, and I use it to steam clean Mila’s stuffed toys to help rid germs and dust mites between deep cleans 4. Non-electronic toys, like cars, can be placed in the dishwasher on a short cycle to clean inside hard to reach areas easily 5. Mix 1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup Glitz cleaning vinegar to wipe down larger toys Which tip will you try first? #bunningsinspo #cleaninghacks #cleaningtips #cleanhome #cleaningmotivation #toycleaning #howto #tipsandtricks ♬ Not Afraid to Love – Flux Vortex

Thankfully Australian TikToker, Chantel Mila, might have a hack that will make things just a wee bit faster when things start piling up.

In a video, Chantel suggests we all invest in a simple mesh laundry bag, nothing fancy just whatever you have on hand or what’s available in your local shop.

She recommends adding the toys into the bag, zipping it up, popping it into the washing machine, and adding a cup of baking soda, which is the equivalent of about two heaped scoops.

It’s so simple, you may even have the supplies needed at home already.

When it comes to harder plastic toys such as trucks or dolls, Chantel has another great idea: load them into the dishwasher. This is also great for getting into those tiny, hard-to-reach nooks.

The laundry bag can come in handy here again as if you want to clean small pieces like Lego pop them in here and run them through the dishwasher without losing any.

To finish things off after the cycle she suggests wiping down larger toys with a mixture of vinegar and water.

Chantel even had a hack for those well-loved soft toys that kids can’t bear to part with long enough to be washed and dried.

“Quickly refresh plush toys with a handheld steam cleaner to rid germs and dust mites,” she said in her video.
