Tummy time is one of the first milestones for a baby

Tummy time is important as it strengthens babies’ necks, shoulders, and arm muscles, which all help them to one day sit up, crawl, and eventually walk on their own.

However, some babies may not love the exercise when starting out.

One mum has shared a cheap and clever hack to help make the experience more enjoyable for them.

Jamie Robinson (@the.real.jamie.robinson) took to TikTok to pass along the simple but effective sensory activity which keeps her little one entertained.

All that is required is a Ziploc bag, water, sellotape, and ring links, all of which can likely be found around the house.

Simply fill the Ziploc bag a third of the way with water and add in the ring links – ensuring the bag doesn’t contain too much air.

Next, tape the bag to the floor and pop your baby down in front of it.

In the clip, Jamie’s baby can be seen engaging with the moveable bag of water and enthralled by colourful links floating within.

Not only does this hack encourage tummy time, but it introduces sensory play from a very young age.

Sensory play has been proven to help kids understand their actions, support brain development, and enhance memory, complex tasks and problem-solving.

Please ensure your baby is supervised at all times when they are doing tummy time.
