Due this month? Here are 3 special things about May babies

Trine Jensen-Burke

Is your due date approaching?

Well, the good news is that babies born this month also tend to be typically bigger and stronger than their peers born in winter.

If you believe the zodiac, people born in May are also smart, ambitious, and trustworthy – we’ll take that!

Want to know more about your little May babe? Well, here are three scientific facts about little ones born this month.

1. They are happier and more optimistic

Babies born in May are happy and easy-going. According to Time, babies born in spring tend to “see every down as a prelude to an up, every market crash as a run-up to a boom.” Swedish psychologist Jayanti Chotai believes that your little Taurus or Gemini may be more optimistic, in part, because of the influence of daylight hours on dopamine, the brain chemical that controls our reward and pleasure centres.

2. They are fit and healthy

Research from the University of Columbia has shown that people born in May have a lower risk for cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, and reproductive diseases — which, you know, is also another reason to be so optimistic.

Another health benefit of being born this time a year? According to a 2016 University of South Hampton study, spring kiddos are least at risk for developing allergies, hay fever, asthma and eczema.

3. They like to stay up late

Turns out your May baby could be a bit of a night owl.

According to a 2009 study published in the journal Sleep researchers showed that spring and summer babies are more likely to go to sleep later than fall and winter kids – so be prepared for some late evenings.

However – it’s not all bad news. The research also discovered that the time of year your child was born does not affect what time they’ll wake up in the morning.
