It is a well-known fact that fertility is affected by age (and other factors) but did you know how much?
This informative infographic – put together by a number of medical experts and published by Women’s Health – shows exactly how a woman’s eggs and a man’s sperm changes over time, from their early 20s to their late 40s.
Whilst fertility is something that varies from person to person, this diagram shows that both men and women have a biological clock that they need to pay attention to if they want to start a family.
The experts involved in putting the infographic together include: Owen K. Davis, M.D., ob-gyn and reproductive endocrinologist at New York-Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Medical Center and president-elect of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM); Elizabeth Fino, M.D., assistant professor of ob-gyn and reproductive specialist at the NYU Fertility Center; and Rebecca Sokol, M.D., M.P.H., president of ASRM and a specialist in male reproduction.
