10 clever uses for baby oil (none of which involves a baby)

Never mind the baby, this is all for you

Trine Jensen-Burke

Have anything you need to un-stick, untangle, smooth out or shine-up? Look no further than that bottle of baby oil you probably have lurking in your bathroom.

Because as luck would have it, this sweet-smelling oil is good for a whole bunch of tasks around the house that have nothing do with babies.

Such as:

1. Removing eye makeup

A few drops of baby oil on a cotton ball and you will get rid of even the most stubborn mascara.

2. Instead of shaving gel

A thin layer of baby oil on your legs and your shaving will go as smooth as never before.

3. Remove stick-on tattoos

Does your little darling have the by-now-just-dirty-looking remains of a stick-on tattoo on his arm? Just rub it off with a little baby oil.

4. Fix your dry feet

Rub some baby oil on your feet before bedtime, pop on some cotton socks and just sleep those heels softer.

5. Untangle a necklace

Is your necklace full of knots and tangles? Sometimes it can be tricky to try and untangle more delicate chains out of fear of breaking them but fear not, a little drop of baby oil will solve the mess. Just rub it gently on where the necklace is tangled and watch kinks and tangles magically untangle themselves.

6. Remove fingermarks from stainless steel and chrome

This one is such a life saver when you have kids and a house full of modern appliances. Just rub on with a soft cloth and watch those grubby little marks disappear.

7. Fix squeaky doors

A little drop or two on a noisy hinge – problem solved.

8. Remove bandages and band-aids

No more tear and just ripping it off, just simply use a drop or two of baby oil to soften the adhesive bit that makes the plaster stick to the skin.

9. Fix a sticky zipper

Zip that won’t budge? Try using a little baby oil on it.

10. Massage

Get someone to put that baby oil to good use and give you a massage. You know you deserve one.
