Mum says that manicure sessions with her son allows them important parent-child bonding time

Beauty treatments like painting nails have long been a mother and daughter tradition.

My daughter hasn't even turned two yet and already she wants her nails painted if she spots me painting mine. I think it's pretty natural for kids to want to play with things like makeup and nail polish. It's fun. When my son was a toddler he would come over with his hands out to be painted and there were many times he walked around sporting blue or yellow nails. While some people thought I shouldn't let him paint his nails because nail polish is for girls I wholeheartedly disagreed as does this mum. Not only does mum Brittany McCabe think that there is nothing wrong with boys wearing nail polish she actually thinks more parents should do it to bond with their sons. https://www.instagram.com/p/B1EXQbdldxI/?utm_source=ig_embed Brittany recently wrote about how painting her son's nails is one of her favourite things to do and she recommends that other parents give it a try.

"As a mom, there is nothing better than watching your child experience those moments where they try new things and see cause and effect in a whole new light. As a child development specialist for the last 15 years, working one-on-one with children from birth to 8 years old, I know just how important it is to give kids a creative outlet and allow them the freedom to express themselves."

Brittany who is also a mum to a little girl, says that sitting with her son and painting his nails while his sister is in camp during the day is a bonding memory she will cherish forever.

"My manicure and pedicure sessions with my son is also our time for parent-child bonding, which is important for emotional stability, growth, and development."

A child development expert McCabe suggests that all parents use nail painting as a way to bond with their sons. She believes that the simple activity will lead to boys being more open-minded, free-thinking and creative.

"It wasn't long before I noticed some other young boys with brightly colored nails at the park, at the supermarket, and at my daughter's school. It warmed my heart to know other parents were encouraging their children to also have fun in this way, regardless of their gender. Whether they know it or not, they are raising boys who are not only defying social norms, but also ones who will live life with a creative, open, and accepting mind."

I personally have no problem painting my son's nails. Like face painting, it's just fun colours so why not?
