Winnie the Pooh is coming to Bord Gáis and we got a sneak peek

Laura Cunningham

All the magic of the Hundred Acre Wood

Disney’s iconic Winnie the Pooh is coming to Dublin, and he’s bringing all his pals.

A fresh stage adaption of AA Milne’s beloved book opens at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre this July and sees Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore and Christopher Robin come to life in a beautifully crafted, musical stage experience that the little ones will love.

A brand new tale from the Hundred Acre Wood is told with colourful ‘life-sized’ puppets and features the Sherman Brothers’ classic Grammy Award-winning music with further songs by A.A. Milne.

Who’s it for?

My little guy was almost three when we saw the show and he was in his element. At just under an hour, the performance is the right length to capture and keep excited attention spans. Ziggy was definitely amongst the youngest at the show, but we were surrounded with all age groups and everyone, from eight to 48 (yep, there were some die-hard Disney adults in attendance) seemed to be lapping it up and singing along.

The vibrant puppets are controlled by a cast of passionate performers whose energy is engaging and infectious. It’s truly impressive – what they’re doing can’t be easy.

Ziggy was lucky enough to get a close-up hello and it’s safe to say, he’ll never forget it. Best day of his little life.

The colourful characters, the delightful music and the sheer nostalgia of it all makes this a show well worth seeing for the little Pooh fans in your life.

Winnie the Pooh is on at Dublin’s Bird Gáis Energy Theatre from July 28th – 30th and tickets are on sale now.
