Jordan Banjo's son has been hospitalised with sepsis at just five weeks old.
The dancer and his wife Naomi said the last few days have been "emotionally draining and frightening".
The dad explained that they rushed their son Atreus to A&E when they realised something wasn't right with their son.
"It’s been the most emotionally draining, frightening week of our lives.
"We’ve cried a lot, we’ve barely slept, and we’ve discussed the worst .. but we’ve carried each other through possibly one of the most traumatic weeks of our lives."
"We are over 5 days in and we finally have a stable temperature. Things are looking positive for Tre Tre and we are finally seeing an improvement.
His mum praised their baby boy for being so strong through everything, including blood tests, a lumbar puncture, constant prodding, and poking.
The parents urged others to beware of the signs of sepsis in babies and young children.
The HSE advises that the telltale symptoms to look out for are:
- blue, pale, or blotchy skin, lips, or tongue
- a rash that does not fade when you roll a glass over it, in the same way, you check for meningitis
- feeling very sluggish, unusually sleepy, and hard to wake
- feels unusually cold to touch
- no pee or wet nappies for more than 12 hours
- fast breathing
- fits or convulsions
- a weak, high-pitched cry that's not like their normal cry
- has an infection, is still unwell after 24 hours, or is getting worse
Parents should get urgent medical help if their child has even one of the above symptoms.
