This Trick Will Turn Your Mashed Potatoes Into A Masterpiece

Remember the bland, lumpy mashed potatoes of yore? Well if that grim memory has turned you off a side of spuds for life, this kitchen hack demands you think again. 

Quite simply, this is the ultimate mashed potato recipe; so smooth and creamy it could be the work of a Michelin-star chef; so indulgent and enticing that it could easily play a starring role in your next dinner party (but works just as well with a midweek meal).

The secret?

Mascarpone cheese. Widely available in supermarkets including Tesco, Lidl and SuperValu, this tasty addition combined with an egg yolk and some butter will take your mash to brand new heights.

Here’s what you’ll need: Four pounds of russet potatoes, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper to taste, 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese, 3/4 cup milk, 1 egg yolk
