This Two-Ingredient Healthy Caramel Sauce Is One Recipe We Are Obsessing Over

Sive O'Brien

You’re going to instantly fall for this crazy-easy recipe – you can add it to anything (literally) for a sticky, sweet kick – without needing to reach for anything refined.

So, what are the two ingredients – Medjool dates and water.

That. Is. It. My friend.

Thanks to this new blog we’re currently obsessing over, amyshealthybaking.com we’re all over this sauce, and the kids are too.

  • 1 cup (190g) fresh pitted Medjool dates (about 10)
  • ¾ cup + 2 tbsp (210ml) water
  1. Add the dates and ¼ cup of water to a high-powered blender or food processor. Blend until fully combined. Gradually add more water, two tablespoons at a time, until the sauce is smooth and reaches the consistency of honey. Transfer to an airtight container, and chill until ready to use.

Spoon some over natural yoghurt, granola, ice-cream, frozen bananas, cookies; you name it.

Medjool dates are a natural energy booster, but they’re also packed with nutrients, minerals, and fiber. But, be careful, just because they are healthy doesn’t mean they are not loaded with calories, so use this sauce sparingly. But if it’s a choice of making caramel with refined sugar and double cream or dates and water – I think for anyone with a health-consicous mind, you might choose these option – plus it’s SO easy, there’ll never be a burnt caramel pot in site again.

Thanks, amyshealthybaking.com for the brilliant tip and recipe. Weekend made.
