We’ve chosen this handy magnet wall for an easy kids room update. It’s also a cute family-time job you can do this weekend with your little one.

According to Jordan Ferney, the San Franciscan blogger, the whole project took less than ten minutes from when she got going.

To do:

1. You’ll need one custom-cut piece of sheet metal, nails, hammer, cardboard, lots of alphabet letters.

2. Take exact measurements. Hardware stores sell sheet metal in standard sizes but won’t cut it. So look up a sheet metal cutter online and get it cut to size. The sheet metal is actually quite sharp so be careful when working with it.

3. Make Holes. Lay the sheet metal over the cardboard. Take a nail and hammer it into the sheet metal until a hole is created. Repeat on the corners and every few feet along the edges.

4. Get a little help and have someone hold the sheet metal up to the wall. Starting
at the bottom, put a nail into the hole until it’s flush with the wall. Move upwards, making sure there are no gaps or holes between the wall and the sheet metal.

5. Add the letters to create a giant magnetic alphabet wall.

Enjoy hours of entertainment (and distraction) creating words, sentences, to-do lists and job lists (if you can get away with this).
