If you’re not sure where to put your Christmas tree, you might want to read this

Though getting ready for the big day when Santa rocks his way down the chimney is exciting there are a few things to consider.

Of course, safety should be everyone’s number one priority, no one wants a visit to the doctor before Christmas rolls around, so here are a few things to consider.

What not to do

  • Don’t put your tree in front of light switches. People might accidentally dislodge the decorations when they switch the lights on and off and not only can that lead to smashed baubles but also trip hazards.
  • Don’t block entryways. Not only will you have a hard time moving around, but you’ll probably end up knocking down ornaments or even the trees themselves.
  • Don’t put your Christmas tree over or in front of a vent. These should be free from any obstruction so that the system circulates air effectively, so avoid putting your tree near them. This also ensures that nothing accidentally falls into the grates and prevents a potential fire hazard.
  • Don’t put your tree too close to a radiator. Not only could this become a fire hazard but if you’re using a real tree it may cause it to dry out and die faster.

What you can do

  • Do put it where it will be seen the most. It could be the living room or the dining room. Your family will enjoy seeing it every day, especially at Christmas.
  • Do choose a spot that is most convenient such as near electrical outlets to ensure that you won’t have a hard time plugging in your lights.
  • Do consider outdoors as well, especially if you have. a house with a big garden or an apartment with a balcony. It adds to the festive atmosphere, especially if you’re planning to have lots of parties over the festive period
