Army Of ‘Stand-in Dads’ Just Sent This 4-year-old Off To School In Style

Sharyn Hayden

When I think about my son starting school this coming week, I think of it as a journey that we undertake as a family.

Both his dad and I have been prepping our son by chatting to him every day about what he can expect from school and how great it’s going to be.

I’m responsible for getting his uniform and books all laid out, my other half is responsible for making lunches.

We will take time off work to accompany him to the school gates this week, his little sister will tag along too and we’ll all high-five and hug him, wishing him well as he walks on through.

And we know that we are lucky to be able to do that together as a family.

The 4-year-old boy from the United States in this video lost his police officer dad and so didn’t have him there to cheer him on, on his first day of school.

Instead, his dad’s colleagues at the force decided that he wouldn’t do it alone and showed up at the school to stand-in for his lost dad.

Watch as they hug him one by one and cheer as he skips through up the corridor – it’s really moving.
