There’s a reason why we didn’t see this Bridgerton couple get married on screen

There’s a reason why we didn’t get to see Kanthony’s wedding.

If you’ve yet to watch all of season two of Bridgerton then beware- this article contains a lot of spoilers.

Viewers were delighted when Anthony and Kate finally got together after their slow-burn storyline captured the audience’s hearts.

As happy as we were, we were pretty gutted that we didn’t see their wedding day.

In the final episode, the couple are married and living together, but why didn’t we get to see the pair tie the knot?

The final episode jumps forward six months and we see the pair happily married.

However, Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen explained why we didn’t get to see Kate and Anthony’s big day.

Speaking to TVLine, Chris Van Dusen said: “Tonally speaking, we wondered how Kate and Anthony’s wedding would compare.”

“The Queen sponsored Edwina and Anthony’s wedding, and she wasn’t going to do it twice.

“There is also the Kate and Edwina bond. Her sisterly love story with Kate was just as important as the main love story between Anthony and Kate.”

He explained that the show’s version of Edwina was more fleshed out than her character in the book.

Edwina may have forgiven her sister and Anthony, but Chris said she wouldn’t have attended their wedding.

“Our Edwina gets to be a fully realised character on the show. Anything else would reduce her to being a prop,” he said.

Luckily, fans will see more of Kanthony in season 3 of Bridgerton.

Netflix confirmed the show has been renewed for both seasons 3 and 4.
