Met Éireann warns of flooding risk as weather continues to be grim enough for the day

Jade Hayden

Great.

Met Éireann have warned that there could be risk of flooding today in some parts of the country as rain continues to fall and winds continue to blow.

Munster and Leinster will be particularly affected the rainfall with a risk of a local spot flooding in places.

There will be scattered outbreaks of rain well into the morning which is then expected to get a lot heavier as the afternoon and evening arrive.

The north and northwest of the country is expected to stay mostly dry as the day wears on and fair play to them too – we’re not jealous at all.

Temperatures aren’t looking any better today either with lows of between 3 and 7 degrees in the east and south, potentially reaching highs of 12 degrees elsewhere.

Poor driving conditions are to be expected, especially in the southern coastal counties as the rain continues throughout the day, only getting heavier as the day drags on.

The north and northwest are to expect scattered showers with a cold and breezy afternoon.

Not the most ideal of days but hey look, it’s May.

Not like it’s meant to be the start of summer or anything…
