“They are standing and staring at her face”

The mother of Alanna Quinn Idris has revealed people keep staring at her daughter. Alanna was brutally attacked in Ballyfermot on December 30th.

The teenager has been recovering from her life-changing injuries since the harrowing attack. She has lost sight in one eye but has been discharged from the hospital.

Alanna’s mum Jamie said she is continuing her recovery from home.

However, it hasn’t gone as smoothly as they had hoped.

Her mum explained that people have been staring at Alanna whenever she leaves the house.

She told the Irish Sunday Mirror, “One thing that is really bothering her is when we go out anywhere, people are literally staring at her. It’s so uncomfortable for her.

“It’s not even that they are having a quick look and like ‘Oh it’s that girl’, they are literally standing and staring at her face,” she added.

The mum stressed that even she is feeling “uncomfortable” now.

Not only is Alanna dealing with people staring at her, but she has also been targeted by trolls.

Jamie said trolls have been creating fake pages to harass her.

“There are some people, who I guess you would call trolls, making up fake pages and just putting comments up.

“There was one the other day that just made me so angry which said ‘Oh look at Mother Teresa pretending to be nice and not rude’.

“People have been horrible to her and have been for years. There have been a few comments about her appearance too. Some people do make stupid comments.”

Despite it all, her mum said Alanna is an extremely tough young woman.

“Alanna is very strong, I don’t know how or where she gets it from.

Jamie added, “She’s very resilient.”
