Andrew McGinley is honouring his three late children

Andrew McGinley has launched a 60km charity walk in honour of his three late children, Darragh, Conor and Carla.

The dad lost his three children in January 2020 after their mother, Deirdre Morley killed them in their Co.Dublin home.

Since their untimely death, Andrew has been honouring their short lives in every way he can.

His latest charity project is one of the biggest to date.

This week, Andrew launched a 2024 fundraiser to help raise support, called As Darragh Did.

As Darragh Did provides funds to community clubs, groups, societies and projects which promote integration and inclusion and that seek to get people participating locally.

Andrew confirmed ‘Walking the Walk’ will take place on Saturday, April 20th at the Annebrook Hotel in Mullingar.

He has urged the public to get involved to help raise vital funds, but to also honour his three children.

Andrew shared: “We are seeking your support to sponsor our efforts or to take part alongside us. All details are on www.asdarraghdid.ie and we are truly grateful to all who take part, help out or sponsor us.

“Walking the Walk will commence in Mullingar on the morning of Saturday 20th April at the Annebrook Hotel in the middle of the town. Walking the Walk will recommence on Sunday 21st April finishing at Bradys in Maynooth.”

How to take part?

You can get involved by visiting the As Darragh Did website, where you’ll find all the information you need about this vital charity walk.

All accommodation, transport and food arrangements are in the information pack on our website at www.asdarraghdid.ie.

Speaking about the meaning behind the fundraiser, Andrew confirmed that the Royal Canal played a big role in his children’s lives.

“The Royal Canal played a big part in the lives of Conor, Darragh and Carla. It was the route we took up the M4 to Donegal for them to visit Granny & Grandad.

“It also features in the Auld Triangle which was a favourite of the kids and you can see Conor & Darragh’s rendition of that song on the Conor Clips YouTube channel,” he added.
