Finally.
Primark is reported to start selling some of its products online in a new trial expected to start by the end of this year.
Associated British Foods, the company that owns Primark, is said to be launching click-and-collect trials on all children’s products and is set to take place in up to 25 stores in the UK.
The stores will be those located in the northwest of England and the trial will include around 2,000 products.
Primark customers have been calling for the retailer to move online since before the pandemic began, but more so since then.
ABF recently said the website has been revamped in the UK to now allow shoppers to check in-store availability and online traffic has jumped 60% due to it.
This feature is yet to be made available in Ireland but is aiming to be introduced by the next month.
A spokesperson told the Irish Sun: “Primark plans to roll out the new website out to other countries over the summer months.
“They aim to have Ireland live by July.”
“Our average-size stores are only able to stock a limited range and for these customers the number of options available to them will broadly double, increasing even more for customers of our small stores,” says ABF, according to Sky News.
“This trial will enable us to provide more fashion, license, and lifestyle products to more customers and more often.”
Paul Marchant, chief executive at Primark, added: “We’ve chosen to trial the new service in a region where we have a wide range of stores of different sizes and formats and we can’t wait to see the customer response.”
It is yet to be confirmed if this will be introduced in Ireland also, depending on the success in the UK.
