Schoolboys get locked in supermarket and eat over €300 worth of food

Staff locked up without realising the boys were inside.

As a kid, did you ever wonder what it would be like to stay in a supermarket at night?

A pair of young boys recently fulfilled many a child’s dream when they got locked in a supermarket overnight and devoured hundreds of pounds worth of food.

The boys, aged 12 and 13 and from East Kilbride in Scotland, hid in a local Sainsbury’s store as closing time approached, evading detection by staff and ran amok once the shop was closed.

They were discovered in the early hours of the morning by workers who were coming to start the early-morning shift.

The schoolboys had “worked their way through” up to £300 pounds (around €330) worth of food and drink in the store and had helped themselves to other goods, according to a source.

Police confirmed that a £35 camera and two memory cards were reported missing after the boys were caught.

“At around 2am two boys aged 12 to 13 were found with items within Sainsbury’s Kingsgate,” they told the East Kilbride News.

“Parents were called and the children were picked up and are safe and well.

“Following further enquiries three items have been reported stolen. Enquiries are ongoing with Sainsbury’s.”

We can only imagine the lecture the two boys got once they got home…
