HerFamily.ie Tried & Tested: The Best Baby Carriers As Told By You

Sharyn Hayden

‘Baby Wearing’ is a term that I kind of love.

Rather than always having your baby in the pram when out and about, or in a moses basket, on a play mat or in a bouncy chair at home, the idea is that you envelope them in your mammy and daddy arms and keep them as close to your body as possible, for as long as possible.

There are a huge range of slings and carriers available to suit babies from birth, right up to when they are toddlers.

We asked you, our readers, what your preferred baby carriers were, and not only did you give us lots of great information, you also sent in some of the loveliest photos too!

Here are the best baby carriers as told by you and your beautiful kids:

Connecta Baby Carrier

Deirdre (above with baby Alex) says;

“I’m using a Connecta at the moment he’s asleep in it right now, I borrowed it from a sling library and he loves it so much I’m thinking of buying one”

Sue, from Dublin, says that no one would have eaten – or possibly survived – in her house without the use of baby carriers! She has shared a gorgeous photo of her daughter Wren in a Connecta;

Sorcha (below, left) says;

“Still use Connecta and a toddler opitai with three and with five year old the odd time..”

Tula Baby Carriers:

Ciara, below with baby Síofra (look at her little face!) tells us;

“I have a Tula now which we use a lot still, she loves her jockey backs in it!”

Siobhan says that using a Tula sling with her son Ollie in the back carry position on holidays has been a game changer. He looks pretty cosy to us!

Dad Steve (above) says that his son Leon loves being in their ergo when he and wife Jenny (below with Leon) use it as a back carrier.

Baby Bjorn

Emma says that she and baby Hayden made great use of their Baby Bjorn carrier.

“..the absolute BEST thing to have if you are flying, walk around the airport with baby fast asleep close to you and you have ur hands free…. Great for doing food shopping too but a no go for clothes shopping”

If you are not sure that a baby carrier is for you and are dubious about spending money on buying one, you can hire or borrow one from various sources.
