The Winning Streak presenter said that she is “overcome with happiness”.

RTE broadcaster Sinead Kennedy and her husband Conor Kirwan have welcomed their first child – a baby girl.

Sinead announced the birth of her daughter Indie on Insatgram earlier this morning.

The family’s newest edition was born a few days ago, and Sinead and Conor have been spending the last while adjusting to life as parents.

The Cork native shared a precious snap of new Dad Conor carrying baby Indie out of the hospital.

“Home a few days now and settling into life with this little one,” she said in the caption.

“Indie Kirwan is the most precious thing to have every happened to us. We’re overcome with happiness and are feeling extremely grateful.”

Sinead added: “We”ll love you forever baby girl.”

The Winning Streak presenter also extended her thanks to the staff at Cork University Maternity Hospital. Kennedy called them “wonderful” and wrote that they looked after both of them so well.

Sinead was immediately met with well wishes and congratulations from her colleagues in Ireland’s media industry.

Primetime’s Miriam O’Callaghan wrote: “That’s such exciting news Sinead – a precious baby girl. Congrats to you both.”

TV presenter Darren Kennedy said: “Such brilliant news, congrats.”

Virgin Media’s Lucy Kennedy, meanwhile, wrote: “Such fantastic news. Enjoy every second Mama.”

Sinead announced that she was pregnant shortly after Christmas. She previously spoke to Irish Country Magazine about her decision to keep her pregnancy private for as long as possible.

She said: “I suppose you choose a time where you’re comfortable to have the word out there for whatever reason, and I had a myriad of reasons for wanting to keep it personal and private for as long as possible, so the whole crew has been really kind to ensure we get there.”
