In fact, in one case, a secondary school offered doughnuts to forms with 100 percent attendance records over a month, and in another, students were offered Domino’s pizza and KFC meals as encouragement to take part in revision sessions that ran during a weekend.
Worryingly, the report also uncovered that unhealthy foods are still widely available and for sale in many secondary school, ensuring that a large percentage of students are opting for these foods over something more healthy and wholesome.
The Jamie Oliver Food Foundation is calling for all schools to become “healthy zones” where “pupils’ health and wellbeing are promoted throughout all parts of school life.”
