This Is What Life Is Like For An Autistic Child

Sive O'Brien

This powerful video shows a little glimpse of what a simp trip to the shopping centre is possibly like for children with autism who experience sensory sensitivity.

Autism is a lifelong neuro-developmental disability that affects the development of the brain in areas of social interaction and communication. It is a range of complex disorders that can include severe communication difficulties, difficulty in social relationships, repetitive activities and routines, and an obsessive narrow range of interest.

This poignant video from the UK National Autistic Society is a brief insight into what it might be like for an autistic child and their daily struggles. Of course, people with autism can have a wide range of symptoms and levels of sensory sensitivity, including under-sensitive senses, or hyposensitivity, in which they experience the opposite, but this video is a must-watch for a sense of how intense it must be.
