With the good weather behind us and kids settled into the new school year, it won’t be long before Halloween celebrations begin in households across the country.
We’re sure you’re already on the look-out for some autumn activities to help kids get into the spooky spirit, and the good news is there are loads of terrifyingly terrific events taking place across the country over the next few weeks.

Dublin Outdoor Cinema Club – Sunday 25 September
Nothing beats a family trip to the cinema, except maybe a FREE family trip to the cinema! Dublin City Council are in the final few weeks of their Outdoor Cinema Club, taking place in Meeting House Square. Their final screening will include Finding Nemo and Amhrán na Mara (Song of the Sea) and will take place on Sunday 25 September.
Top tip: Tickets for the Outdoor Cinema Club’s final screening are already on sale. Be sure to book yours ASAP, as they can sell out quickly.

Dublin Festival of History – Thursday 29 September – Sunday 2 October
Dublin Festival of History takes place later this month, promising an exciting glimpse into our capital city’s unique journey through time. The festival promises 130+ free events around the city, exploring Dublin’s rich and layered history through exhibitions, workshops, talks and tours. The line-up also includes some exciting events for little historians, including a Children’s History Workshop on Monday 1 October and a Hidden Histories Self-Guided Treasure Hunt for kids running throughout the festival.

The Circus Extreme – Friday 30 September – October 16
Later this month, Royal Hospital Kilmainham will play host to Circus Extreme, the latest jaw-dropping performance from the people behind The Extreme Stunt Show. Daredevil stunt drivers, captivating acrobats and entertaining clowns will all be on hand to dazzle spectators in the Big Top, in the ultimate Irish circus experience.
Top tip:Â Just back from the European Championships, the EXTREME FMX team will be performing some jaw-dropping stunts inside the terrifying Globe of Death.

Superhero Halloween Costume Workshop – Thursday 22 October
Put your crafting skills to the test to create your very own sustainable superhero costumes! Taking place in The Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun, kids will transform unwanted t-shirts and clothes into some sleek superhero kit, under the expert guidance of Arran Murphy from Rediscover Fashion. Every child will leave with their very own superhero cape and mask in what’s sure to be an exciting day out for you and your little one.

Bram Stroker Festival 2022 – Friday 28 October – Monday 31 October
It wouldn’t be Halloween without the Bram Stroker Festival, which returns to Dublin this October for a weekend of gothic after-dark experiences and supernatural wonders. The full programme for this year’s festival is yet to be announced, but previous line-ups included outdoor installations, circus nights, kid-friendly discos, face-painting and more exciting events that are sure to get your little ones into the Halloween spirit.
Top tip: This year’s festival will include an immersive light and sound experience at Dublin Castle, during which a spectacular Northern Lights vision will be projected from Dublin Castle’s Upper Courtyard.
