Would you let your kids name their new sibling?

When it comes to picking a name for a new baby, the options really are endless.

With every passing year, new names get added to the ever-growing list and monikers from years gone by come back into style.

The task of picking just one can be so overwhelming that you may just feel like letting someone else decide for you – something one mum opted to do.

Eliza Flynn, who was preparing to give birth to her third child, told The Mirror that she had used up her name choices on her first two children, Arthur, 6, and Hector, 3.

Because of this, she decided to put the two boys up to the task of picking their new baby brother’s middle name when he was born.

“We had no idea what they would call him,” she told the outlet.

“I originally wanted Jasper, but I had a ferret called that and that also got vetoed. We also liked Casper but people said [it] was like the ghost.”

Eliza then asked her two sons to think of things that made them ‘happy’ or things they ‘loved’ for inspiration for their brother’s middle name.

Of course, given their ages, her two boys initially resorted to names like ‘bum bum head’ and ‘presents’, but eventually landed on their perfect pick.

In the end, the Flynn family’s newest member was named Caspian Snow Flynn Gash.

The name ‘Snow’ was inspired by the happy memories they had of being in the snow, their mum explains.

“I think we’d just had some snow and some of their fondest memories were from being the snow.

“We initially thought it was a little weird and then thought it sounded fun.”

While Eliza grew to love the name Arthur and Hector chose, their dad, Ben, took a little convincing.

“I am the more fun person when it comes to things like this, I think it was very much my idea to let the boys do it,” the mum explained.

“Once they had got into it and were excited about it was harder for my husband to say no.

“Caspian’s name reflects him well, he’s an all round jolly child and I think his name makes him more interesting.”
