Indoor activity: Easy peasy homemade play dough recipe

Sive O'Brien

Play Doh is a great way to keep children of all ages busy indoors.

Here’s a quick and easy recipe so you can make your own and not have to worry about any nasty ingredients when somebody inevitably eats it.

You don’t have to be a really crafty type to give this quick and easy method a go (thankfully), and you’ve probably already got all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard.

Ingredients:

One-and-a-half cups of cold water

3/4 cup of salt

Three tablespoons of cream of tartar

One-and-a-half cups of plain flour

One-and-a-half tablespoons of vegetable oil

Food colouring

Method:

Put the water in a saucepan and add all the ingredients before stirring well over a low to medium heat until combined. Continue stirring for another five minutes until the mixture forms a dough. Leave to cool for a few minutes, then give the dough a quick knead and divide into portions. Form a well in the middle of each portion and add a few drops of food colouring. Using disposable gloves, work it through into it’s well combined.
