13-year-old boy named locally after tragic tractor accident in Mayo

Heartbreaking.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted after a tractor overturned on a country road near Claremorris in County Mayo on Saturday evening.

The driver of the tractor was named locally as Kyle Pilbrow.

Kyle was treated for his injuries at Galway University Hospital and was later transferred to Temple Street Hospital Dublin.

He sadly passed away in hospital early yesterday morning, Sunday May 21st.

It’s understood that no other vehicle was involved in the accident.

Gardaí are treating the incident as a tragic accident but the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are looking into how the tractor overturned.

Kyle was well-known in the community.

People have been sharing their sympathies and tributes to the young boy and his family after this heartbreaking accident.

Local Fine Gael Councillor, Tom Connolly told the Irish Mirror that everyone in the area are devastated by the news.

He said: “I send my sincere sympathy to the family of the victim. It is a tragedy.

“But everyone will pull together to support the family. He was just 13 years of age. It’s just all very sad.”

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact Claremorris Garda Station on (094) 937 2080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
