This is what’s in store for us weather-wise on Christmas Day

It's a bit up and down to be honest.

A lot of us dream of a white Christmas, and while it might not be the most practical if people are travelling to see loved ones across the country, it would be picturesque. Well, you're out of luck if you were hoping for snow this Christmas as the day is actually going to be rather mild.

It will stay unsettled over the weekend with SATURDAY looking to be the better day with just a little rain. On SUNDAY, longer spells of rain seem likely. Temps by day will be between 8 & 12°C w/ mod. winds. It is likely to stay quite mild & changeable in the RUN UP TO CHRISTMAS.

However, Christmas Eve isn't looking too great with heavy rain and a frosty start. Met Éireann said: "Intermittent rain is likely across southern counties, heaviest early on in the day. A cold and frosty start elsewhere, especially across Ulster, but with sunny spells and overall dry for the day. Highest temperatures will range 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, in light easterly breezes; mildest in the south." While this is what it's looking like on Christmas Day: "Current indications suggest it should be generally dry with sunny spells and moderate southeast breezes." Not exactly what we wanted, but we'll take it.
