Parents need to try this genius Elf on the Shelf hack

Kat O'Connor

Is Elf on the Shelf already driving you mad?

Luckily, one genius mum has found a way to avoid coming up with new ideas and it is absolutely perfect.

“My friend is sick of bloody elf on the shelf, I told her to put him in isolation, awaiting PCR test, if he gets a positive test that’s 10 days sorted, genius, you can thank me later!” the mum revealed.

Putting them in isolation is honestly one of the most clever ideas we’ve heard in quite some time.

Plus, it is bound to save us from a lot of late-night stress.

Another mum said that the idea of putting the elf in quarantine is beyond clever.

“Brilliant or Lazy Parenting? A kid in my daughter’s class just said that their Elf on the Shelf can’t move every night because he’s in quarantine.”

“He’s been in isolation since he came,” she revealed.

We’d happily get rid of the Elf on the Shelf, but the kids love it.

It may be a new tradition, but experts are already analysing the impact it is having on our children.

According to former primary school teacher Emma Shingleton, it can actually scare a lot of children.

She told The Sun that asking children “to be ‘good’ every moment of every day in December can feel overwhelming”.

“Do we really want our children thinking they’re being watched every moment of the day by these festive home invaders! Could the expectation be setting some children up to fail?”

She also said it is important to remember that children are easily influenced. Seeing them get up to mischief might actually encourage them to do the same.

The parenting expert encouraged families to introduce a helpful elf rather than a naughty elf this year.
