This new dad doesn’t want his family to visit on Christmas because of his newborn

Christmas may be a merry time of year, but it can also be an incredibly complicated one for many.

Having to see members of your family you don’t get along with, mingling with those who you’re not close to, or just socialising, in general, can leave many feeling deflated.

Sometimes all you want to do is hibernate at home with your closest loved ones, especially if you’re a new parent.

One new dad has admitted he doesn’t want to see his father on Christmas Day because they will have a newborn baby.

He explained to Reddit that they’ll be too exhausted for visitors.

His wife is due to give birth at the end of November.

He’s made it clear to his parents that they don’t want any visitors over the holidays. This is because they want to “focus on our newly grown family”.

He’s also aware that the newborn period is “a very vulnerable time for the mother”.

However, his parents are less than impressed and are insisting on visiting them during the holidays.

During a recent visit, his dad insisted on visiting at Christmas time, despite his son’s wishes.

“I told him no and they could come sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but not during Christmas week.

He said their doors will be locked on Christmas week and he is not changing his mind.

His dad was furious and said they should be spending the holidays with family.

Reddit users agreed that the father was being extremely inconsiderate and stressed that he should have more respect for his son and their family.

It may be Christmas, but it’s also the first few weeks of their newborn’s life and all parents know just how quickly that period goes by.
