Fund set up for children orphaned when their parents died from cancer in the same week

Amanda Cassidy

What a cruel fate.

Luke, Hannah and Oliver lost both their mum and their dad in the same week, just five days ago.

Already, a campaign set up for the children, who are from Merseyside in the UK, has raised over 155 thousand pounds.

The children shared a photo of their parents, Mike and Julie Bennet, holding hands during their final days together in the hospice.

It is hoped the fund set up by friends will allow the kids, who are 21, 18 and 13, to live at home and continue their education.

Reports on Sky News say that the children are ”overwhelmed’ by the support they have received from family, friends and total strangers. The original target for fundraising was 50 thousand pounds.

Their dad, a carpenter, was diagnosed with a brain tumour four years ago and had been cared for at home by his wife. Sadly, last may, their mum developed breast cancer, which then spread to her liver and kidneys.

They died within five days of each other
