This Mum tried to CROWDFUND a Disney trip for her daughters

A mother who attempted to crowdfund a family holiday has been forced to backtrack after receiving abuse online.

Websites such as Fundit and GoFundMe are generally used as a way to raise money for charitable causes, but Bristol mum-of-two Nikki Smith (33) created a profile asking strangers to pay for a holiday to Disneyland Florida for her two daughters, aged 10 and 12.

“We lost two very special people in our lives these past couple of years and this really would give them so much to look forward to.” she wrote on the original post.

Explaining her reasoning to the Sun Online, she said: “It’s so hard to save with two children as well as working part time, you’ve got the bills and shopping – it would probably take me 10 years to save up that much and it would be too late then.”

Irate viewers accused Nikki of being a scrounger, demanding that she pay for her own holidays like everybody else.

The post was shared. more than 18,000 times, drumming up more fury as word spread.

After raising just £10 (and the ire of the public at large) Nikki wisely removed the plea.
