Mum shaken as ‘hacker moves baby monitor’ while changing daughter

“I was shocked, it really made me quite sick.”

A terrified mum has issued a warning to parents after she claims hackers moved the baby monitor camera around the room while she was changing her daughter’s diaper.

Katie McMurray claims the camera started to follow her moves as she was chaining her daughter Chelsea’s nappy, according to Perth Now.

She says this happened despite the couple having a specific password for the camera and wifi at their Australian home.

The baby monitor can be accessed via a smartphone app which allows the parents to watch their three-month-old even if they’re not in the room.

But Katie claims the hackers broke into the system and were watching them, when the camera began to follow her every move.

She said:

“I was shocked, it really made me quite sick.”

Her partner Sean Johnson continued:

“I feel like we buy these things to make sure our kids are safe, and then you don’t know who is watching.”

He added that the couple had taken a number of safety precautions and had set a password for the camera and home network, but claimed the hacker still managed to get through it all.

Katie said the couple have returned the monitor, as she added:

“Be careful, anyone could be looking at your children.”
