“One positive action in a negative moment has caused a tsunami of friendship for me with moms that are going through the same thing.”
These are the words of Dianne Hoffmeyer, the 41-year-old Burtchville Township, Michigan, mum who’s response to a couple of total bitches last Monday went completely viral.
Dianne was queuing to get a snack for her daughter, Liliana and a coffee for herself when she heard two women behind her mocking her hair and her weight and calling her a “whale”.
Dianne’s reaction was impressively restrained. She took the MAJORLY high road and paid for the women’s coffees. Later she wrote about the incident on her own Facebook page and that of the coffee shop. The next day she was inundated with more than 94,000 friend requests, while the post itself has been liked more than 166,000 times.
The mum, who had recently shed an incredible 177 pounds (just over 12 stone), took impressively positive action – she explained her motivation:
“My 2-year-old daughter is a mini-me and she mimics everything I do,” Hoffmeyer told The Times Herald. “I wanted to do the right thing so when she’s old enough she’ll know the right thing to do.”
