Five activities for your toddler and baby to do together

How can you keep your toddler and baby occupied at the same time?

It can be impossible to divide your attention between your children let alone keep them both entertained.

Most of the time babies and toddlers don’t even share similar interests but it’s not like you can photocopy yourself to do two separate things.

Thankfully there are a few activities that all your children can enjoy at the same time.

Get reading

Reading to children of any age is one of the best activities you can do together as a family.

You can read at home with the kids any time or when you’re ready to brave it and head out the door, the local library makes a great destination.

Some libraries will have a story time for your kids to enjoy as well so get ready to sit back with your kiddos and enjoy.

Dance it out

Pop on some tunes and get your groove on! It doesn’t have to be ‘Baby Shark’ on repeat, just anything that gets you guys moving.

Even start making your own music, making drums out of old pots and pans or get a basic music set with easy-to-play instruments.

Blow bubbles

Toddlers will get a kick out of chasing and popping bubbles and even practising the art of blowing, while babies will love to track bubble movements with their eyes and feel the sensation on their faces.

The best part is that you can blow bubbles whether it’s bright outside or dark and dismal!

Sensory play

Exploring different textures and objects with favourite toys tends to have a calming effect on our rambunctious toddler and helps baby with sensory stimulation and development.

Break out the poster paints and like your kids create masterpieces, let your little ones play with sand or let them loose with some Play-Doh.

Take a walk

Consider a walking trail or even taking a nature walk around your property, if you have it.

Walks are great for everyone, but especially toddlers and babies when it’s time to wind down.
