Paul Mahon’s New Dad Vlog: ‘Dad Chats’

Paul Mahon

Both my parents were always great at taking photos and videos, documenting all the special moments throughout our lives. In fact, my dad was the original Vlogger… he had a camera as far back as 1993!

With that in mind, and my own start in fatherhood only around the corner, I thought I’d turn to my dad for some advice.

It’s a peculiar but fun experience chatting to your own father about fatherhood. Most of the questions I genuinely had never asked him before. I’d like if men were able to talk a bit more openly about all aspects of life.

My dad was absolutely fantastic and open about everything. I’m actually so unbelievably happy I shot this Vlog when I did; only a day later we were in hospital with Zelda on the and I doubt I’d have gotten back to it otherwise.

For me this is one of the most interesting episodes because of how different I feel I am in this footage. Within the next two days I was able to completely understand what my dad was talking about and I realised what an eye-opener childbirth is.

For the most part, it’s a chat with my dad… but I also see a very naive version of myself.
