Here’s everything you need to know

Serenity and childbirth aren’t normally words you’d find in the same sentence. But with hypnobirthing, serenity is the goal. Its practice promises a calmer childbirth, and uses an approach that channels the power of the mind and body to help you have a more tranquil birthing experience.

What is it?

Hypnobirthing is a methodology grounded in the principles of relaxation, visualisation, and the profound connection between mental and physical well-being. At its core, it empowers expectant parents to navigate the birthing process with a sense of tranquillity and control over their experience.

It equips you with the tools to approach childbirth with confidence and assertiveness. It attempts to eliminate the fear around delivering a baby, a common feeling among expectant parents. The method encourages the embrace of confidence through relaxation techniques and positive affirmations.

Visualisation

If you’re good at things like mood boards and manifesting, this might be right up your street. It teaches you to visualise the ideal birthing scenario, to try to shape your perceptions and, in turn, influence the unfolding reality of the birthing experience.

Create your space

In hypnobirthing, it’s recommended that you settle into your space, and make it as comfy as possible and to your liking. Your space can be carefully curated with subdued lighting, calming aromas, and a touch of personalisation where possible.

Have a companion

Whether partner, doula, or medical professional, a hypnobirthing companion plays a vital role in providing support and understanding throughout the birthing process by knowing your preferences so you can stay in the zone, and advocating for you based on those preferences around potential interventions etc.

Beyond birth

Hypnobirthing extends beyond the delivery day. It helps with things like bonding, successful breastfeeding, and a positive initiation into parenthood.
