Welcome to week 33 of your pregnancy! This week, your baby is as big as a celery stick. Here’s what else you can expect this week.

You

You might describe yourself as ‘fed up’ at this point, or you could still be loving your bump and your glow – either way, you’re not the only one. Take as much time for yourself as you’re able to in these last few weeks, you’re about to be hella busy.

Your baby

At 33 weeks, your baby is now about 44 centimetres long and weighs around 1.9 kilograms. Their body is becoming more proportional, their bones are hardening, except for the skull, which remains soft to ease the journey through the birth canal. Your baby’s movements are likely strong and frequent, as there’s less room to somersault in there.

Anything else?

Discuss your birth concerns and preferences with your healthcare team, and make sure your birthing partner is informed. Understanding your maternity leave entitlements is also essential. Practice deep breathing techniques to alleviate any anxiety you may be feeling.
