Jetting off can be so easy!

It’s that beautiful time of year again when some of us lucky ones jet off to the sun.

The greatest dilemma we’ll probably have is deciding how to keep the kids occupied. But before we even reach our destination, a little bit of organisation and structure to packing that suitcase starts us off in the right direction.

Here are some easy peasy packing tips worth considering before takeoff.

1. Colour Code

If you pack similar colours of clothing through mixing and matching you can create an all-new outfit each day so recycling an item or two becomes very helpful indeed. You’ll end up packing far less while creating a variety of ensembles. All you have to do is colour coordinate and switch it up! Here are a few inspiring ideas from F&F.

Flatform Wedge (€28)

Cross Front White Sandal (€16)

White Schiffili Dress (€38)

Saddle Crossbody Bag (€18)

2. Keep Those Bras in Shape

Stuffing underwear and other small items of clothing into bras helps keep their shape while they’re in the suitcase and means you don’t need to fork out on new ones too soon.

3. Cubes

Some of us here at the Her desk are MAJOR fans of packing cubes, they might even be “life changing.” They make packing a whole lot more organised, so as when you arrive at your destination, you literally pop them out of the suitcase, and tah-dah! – everything’s organised and ready for the wardrobe.

They’re very handy for separating his from yours, and yours from the kids’ clothes too. And if you’re on the hunt for superb quality summer clothes for your little one (or maybe even your partner), F&F have some gorgeous options.

Stripe Kids Jumper (€9)

Sleeveless Fruit Dress (€7.50)

Mens Plain Mint Short (€10.50)

Mens Blue Linen Chambray Shirt (€20)

Mens Grey Palm Leaf Print Polo (€18)

4. Roll, Roll, Roll

Rolling clothes, as many of us are aware, saves oodles of space! You’ll be fitting more in that suitcase, so just make sure you give it a weigh before you leave for the airport.

Boys vests, three pack (€7.50)

5. Jewellery

It’s very handy to pop one side of your necklaces through reusable straws (eco-friendly is always a plus, which are now easily available). For earrings, pop them into buttons you have lying around at home, and rings can be put on a piece of string to make them all easily accessible.

6. Make It Travel Size

Some of your favourite beauty brands likely make little travel size options to easily pack into a suitcase or hand luggage. If not, or if you’d rather not purchase product when you have heaps of it at home, it’s worth investing in small containers that you can keep and reuse on your travels forever more.  When it comes to your favourite shampoo or body wash – they’re totally worth it.
