New kid movies and TV shows on Netflix that are perfect for rainy days

Hot coco and rainy days, here we come!

As we say goodbye to the heatwave and move the fun indoors, entertaining the little ones can become a little harder.

However, there are a number of new releases on Netflix that are a sure way to keep the kids busy inside once the rainy season begins.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical

This reimagined classic will have your kids singing around the house while also being inspired by everyone’s favourite bookworm.

It has officially hit Netflix and holds a very respectable 7.0 on IMDb for the telling of a story about Matilda, an extraordinary girl who uses her intelligence, colourful imagination, and bravery to take a stand to change her story with incredible results.

Sonic Prime

Last year, the Sonic Prime series took the world by storm and proved to be a massive hit.

The animated series, now in its second season, tells the tale of Sonic the Hedgehog’s adventure when the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his quick-gloved hands as he travels through multiple dimensions collecting Prism Shards to piece the universe back together.

This one may even inspire your kids new favourite hero or a new running hobby (time to secure every surface and breakable item in the house).

The Monkey King

This Netflix original is brand new and promises to open up the little minds and imaginations of those who follow the story of this epic Chinese tale.

The film has been translated into a fun and action-packed comedy following the antics of a monkey and his magical fighting stick as they battle demons, dragons, gods, and the greatest hurdle of all: Monkey’s ego.

One hour and 36 minutes of uninterrupted magic!

LOL House of Surprises

This one is perfect for a girly sleepover.

It pretty much sounds like a PG, drama-free, child-friendly version of our favourite upper-east siders from Gossip Girl.

LOL House of Surprises is a story about friendship and it brings viewers along for the journey in six episodes as Royal Bee brings her BFFs to The House of Surprises to show them her fabulous new project (a new hangout spot) that features unexpected twists!

Nimona

Last but certainly not least is Nimona, an animated epic comedy movie that follows the events of a knight who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit.

Set in a futuristic mediaeval world, the only one who can help this wrongly accused knight and prove his innocence is Nimona (voiced by Chloë Grace Moretz), a feisty and mischievous teen (sound relatable?) who happens to be a shapeshifting creature the knight is sworn to destroy.

An unlikely alliance that promises plenty of laughs and adventure.
