This is when Corrie viewers will find out who caused the factory roof collapse

About time.

After weeks and weeks of speculation, the identity of Coronation Street's new super villain will be revealed this month.

The news that a long-range 'super villain' would be arriving in Weatherfield was first announced in December.

Showrunner Iain MacLeod revealed the roof of the Underworld knicker factory would collapse later in the year, claiming the life of one of the Weatherfield residents.

Then, a few months later, Coronation Street revealed there were six candidates as to who could have caused the roof to cave in: Seb Franklin; Gary Windass; Carla Connor; Peter Barlow; Nick Tilsley and Robert Preston.

And viewers were left heartbroken when, in March, the roof caved in and killed Rana Habeeb on her wedding day to Kate Connor - although the person responsible hasn't been revealed just yet.

Now, it has been confirmed that Coronation Street will be airing a week of 9pm episodes later this month - which will confirm the identity of the villain once and for all.

The episodes kick off on May 27 and will be airing right after Britain's Got Talent's live shows.

According to The Sunthe episodes will also be focusing on the mental health of Carla Connor, who has been hospitalised against her will.

She went missing soon after the roof of the Underworld factory collapsed, feeling she was responsible for the tragedy.

A spokesperson confirmed that the identity of the villain will be revealed to viewers - although the rest of the Weatherfield residents will be waiting awhile.

They said:

"Following weeks of speculation, we are finally going to learn which local has blood on their hands.

"Viewers will learn the truth, although the rest of the Street still has a little way to go before they clock on. It's a story that is going to run and run, and the outcome is not going to be cut and dried."
