Life-changing cystic fibrosis drug made available for children in Ireland
The drug has been life-changing for cystic fibrosis patients.
The cystic fibrosis drug Kaftrio has finally been approved in Ireland.
The drug was previously approved for teenagers and adults.
Children with cystic fibrosis, aged between 6 and 11, can now access the drug.
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly announced the news this afternoon.
He said this is a huge day for CF patients children in Ireland.
Donnelly stated:
"Kaftrio has been a life-changing drug for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers.
Donnelly said he wanted to make the drug available to everyone that needs it.

"I would like to commend the HSE and the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics for working so hard to conclude this agreement with the manufacturer.
"This is good news for the young children with CF who can now access this therapy."
"It is another important milestone that will help us continue to improve outcomes for patients with Cystic Fibrosis in this country."
The HSE's Dr. Colm. Henry also said the drug will have a life-changing impact on patients.
He confirmed the drug is now available to children previously ineligible.
